Hometown Mystery SAL - Page 12

Hometown - Page 12

I managed to squeeze in Page 12 of Teresa Kogut's Hometown Mystery SAL before the end of December to stay on track.  I can't wait to see what is coming up next!

I decided to frog 2 of the trees that I had previously stitched with Tarragon instead of 3052 on Page 11.  I misplaced one of the trees slightly when I put it back in, but it was only one stitch off, so I left it.  I had to fudge a little at the church to accomodate, but it still looks alright to me. Just "making it my own".  LOL!

Fabric:  36 ct. Vintage Country Mocha Linen

Floss: Mainly DMC with a few substitutions, previously listed.  No changes on this page.

My stitching buddy

Meet Dolly, my stitching buddy.

This is Dolly, she is a 9 lb.  Maltipoo mix.

She came to us as a rescue from a breeding facility in North Carolina in 2017 as part of the Pilots and Paws Programs and Duffy's Friends in Rochester.

When she arrived, she had heartworm, dental problems, a back leg that had been broken and left to heal incorrectly, and no social skills as a dog.  Very timid, but sweet, she didn't know how to play with toys, didn't bark, and stood at any doorway, afraid to go through it.  You could leave her in a crate with the door open and she would not leave it.

She is now 14, acts like a dog, and is in relatively good health.  The only remaining issues are a special diet and extreme separation anxiety. She does remain calm if we leave her in the company of dogs she knows so she is a frequent-flyer at my daughter's house to hang out with her cattle dogs.

She sits by my side daily whenever I stitch or during online zoom sessions and virtual retreats.  I felt I should introduce her, as I will probably include some of her antics in future posts.

Christmas Folk

 It's a Christmas finish!

I purchased "Christmas Folk" by Cathy Habermann of Hands on Design at the Jingle Ball and was so excited I started and finished it as soon as I could.  I promised myself I wouldn't frog unless it was absolutely necessary so there is one color error (the bird is in grey, not green) and one border error. (I'm not telling which one. LOL!) I finished it on Christmas Day.  How appropriate!

Fabric:  32 ct.  light taupe lugana

Floss:  DMCs listed

I plan to FFO it this week to include in my December statistics.

FFO: Gingerbread House

Jingle Ball 2024: Gingerbread House from Tiny Modernist

The class for the 3D Gingerbread House at the Jingle Ball was great.  I've always wanted to try a 3D constructed project.  Now I plan to do more!

Fabric: 32 ct. linen, Vintage Country Mocha

Floss:  DMC floss

Stitches are wraooed around sticky board, then stitched together on the corners  Supposed to be whip or ladder  stitch on corners but I decided to make it lattice looking.  I used batting for the roof as I didn't have any felt.  The inside is stuffed with polyfill, but I'm going to put something (rice or poly pellets) in the bottom to weight it down a litte.

FFO: Winter Wonderland Star

Jingle Ball 2024:  Winter Wonderland Star from Hello from Liz Mathews

I took the finishing class for this cute little star pillow at the Jingle Ball.

It was my first 3d pillow finish and my first with decorative beading.  It was easier than I thought.

Fabric:  32 ct. Edinburgh Linen, Dirty Clothes

FFO: Rooftop Stockings

Jingle Ball 2024 - Rooftop Stopckings by Lindy Stitches

Jingle Bell 2024 Class - Specialty Stitches

Specialty Stitches class from Jeannette Douglas - Jingle Ball 2024

I took the Specialty Stitches class last year and learned 6 different stitches.  This year we learned 8 more stitches.

Montenegrin, Leaf, Milanese, Scotch, Cashmere, Triple Cross Stitch, Rice and V satin stitch

Fabric: 28 ct. white opalescent.  Floss:  DMC flosses

Just love Jeannette's classes!  She makes learning specialty stitches less intimidating.

I got brave and stitched a small Chatelaine after last year's class.  This year I will attempt a medium size one!

Thank you Jeannette (and the Jingle Ball of course).
