Halloween Quaker - Primrose Cottage

Last, but not least... Halloween Quaker!

This photo was taken when the stitch was just removed from the Q-snap.  It wasn't ironed or blocked yet.

I plan to finish it as the suggested pillow as I did get the finishing kit from Primrose Cottage.

Fabric:  I changed the fabric to 32 ct. lugana, stormy night

Floss:  CCW: Black Coffee and DMC: Ecru, 920, 783

Free Stitch Friday from Primrose Cottage

This was a fun stitch to sneak into my Halloween stitching.

It's the Free Stitch Friday from Primrose Cottage Stitches.

Fabric:  32 ct. Stormy Night Lugana

Floss:  I used some of the DMC colors from the Sip and Stitch box (310, 535, 731, 783, 920, 921, 3740).

One minor change from the chart is I stitched grey around the candy corn fob instead of a gold-brown.

Witches Brew - Roundabout

I couldn't wait to stitch up this round about from Stitching with the Housewives.

The stitch is called "Witches Brew" from the Roundabouts series.  This will be going in the witch diplay stand from Paisleys and Polka Dots.  I changed the floss colors to match the ones used in the Halloween Sip and Stitch from Primrose Cottage.  I'll list them below.

Fabric:  32 ct. stormy night lugana

Floss:  I used DMC: 310, 731, 783, 920, 921, 3042, 3740

These are NOT the ones listed on the chart.

Stitch #2 - No tricks

Second in my pile of Primrose Cottage Sip and Stitch charts was..."No tricks, just treats."!

I love the colors.  I'm going to use these for all of my Halloween patterns.

Fabric: 32 ct. stormy night lugana

Floss:  DMC listed on the chart

Let's try some painting!

I just fell in love with the little witch from Paisleys and Polka Dots.

Even though I don't have a lot of experience painting or assembling, I'm not afraid to try.  This one was fun to do.  I messed up the speckle a little bit but I think I've figured it out for the next time.

Can't wait to finish stitching the piece for the middle!

I also got the smaller Halloween wood shapes too.  You will see those in the final FFO.

Coming soon!

It's October! Time to stitch some Halloween patterns.

"Halloween Cauldron" from the Sip and Stitch box from Primrose Cottage.

Decided to start all the Sip and Stitch charts.  What a great set of patterns.

First up... Halloween Cauldron

Fabric:  32 ct. Stormy Night Lugana

Floss:  I used the DMCs.

Hometown SAL: Page 9

 I'm still on schedule!

I finished Page 9 of Teresa Kogut's Patreon "Hometown" SAL on time.

I'm just loving this stitch.  It's my first time stitching 1 strand over 2 on 36 ct.  I'm not afraid to do a 40 ct. now and I think I'll like the coverage even more.

For those who asked, yes I did substitute some flosses.

  1. The barn is stitched in Weeks Dy Works "Indian Summer" floss and I selected the particular strands in order to make the colors flow in stripes like wood.

  2. The willow tree leaves were stitched with Weeks Dye Works "Tarragon".

  3. The Hooked Rugs building was also stitched with the "Tarragon".

Oops! Forgot to say goodbye to September

Oops!  Bye, Bye, September

I missed switching out everything at the beginning of October due to my daughter's wedding and I had so many new Halloween stitches I decided to wait to set them up until they are all FFO'd (which should be later today and tomorrow).

Here is a photo of a few of my Fall projects before I switch them out for Halloween.  I'm going to leave the leaf quilt up through Thanksgiving because I just love the colors.

The stitches displayed are:  Stitching Seasons series: "Autumn" and the "September": Monthly Weigh-In series from Stitching with the Housewives,  "Fall is in the Air" from It's Sew Emma, Mad for Plaid series: "Autumn" from Hands on Design, and "I Love Fall Most of All" from Primrose Cottage.

The runner on the table is one of my woven pieces.  You didn't know I used to be a weaver, did you?  I had a 54" 6-treaddle Harrisville Designs loom that I had to sell due to health issues. The runner was a traditional overshot colonial pattern woven on a non-traditional jute warp with a non-traditional nylon weft. I miss weaving, but cross stitch is filling the void.

No, I did not make the quilt, but I absolutely fell in love with it when I saw it post to Etsy.  I had to purchase it.

Special Events

While I don't normally post personal photos, I will this time to show why I've been away from my stitching for so long.  We had a wedding in the family!  It was a beautiful day to get married by the lake and everything went perfectly.  Congratulations to the happy couple.

Pumpkins Please

"Pumpkin Please" by Stitching with the Housewives was started at the 141 Pep Rally and finished when I got home.

I changed the fabric to a piece of linen I picked up off the free table at the retreat.  It looked like 28 ct. Vintage Country Mocha to me.

I used the DMC floss colors suggested on the chart.

I did alter the pattern a tiny bit.  I filled in around the windows on the house with the blue pumpkin color and added an additional color to the roof to balance out the house.  This definitely wouldn't be needed if I had stitched it on black, but I thought it looked better on the linen I used.  I can't wait to fully finish it to add to my fall display.

What's Up?

Apologies for the hiatus!  I went to the Chantelle 141 Pep Rally with Chelsea and Priscilla from Stitching with the Housewives last week and this week my daughter got married.  I was consumed with before and after wedding duties.  After a last minute rush to finish altering the last bridesmaid's dress I was done in time.  😓
