May 2024 Stats

I had 12 new starts, 10 finishes, and 4 FFOs.

Looks like I'll have some FFOs to do in June!

Hometown (Page 5) by Teresa Kogut

I'm so happy I'm still on track with the Hometown SAL for the Teresa Kogut patreon group!

I'm stitching on 36 ct. Vintage Country Mocha linen, one over two with the called for threads (mostly).

I'm substituting WDW Tarragon for DMC 3051 and WDW Indian Summer for the Barn, and CCW Almost Auburn for the DMC 869 (when it appears in larger sections)

I substituted Ecru for the sheep as the called for disappeared on the fabric.

I liked the WDW Indian summer substitution on the barn so much that I ripped out the 3857 that is supposed to be on the side of the barn and continued the Indian Summer there too.  I put a column of 3857 every 4 columns to try and make that side look a little more shaded like in the pattern.  I also rotated the variegation to horizontal on the barn door just to see how it looked.  I liked it so it's staying.

I also decided to backstitch around the outside of the buildings (usually with the same color).

I'm debating about the antlers on the deer.  The color is very close to the cloth. I'm not sure whether I'm going to leave it in, change the color, or detail them with a long stitch of another lighter color.  The jury is still out on that one.

Word Swap: Daisies

I decided to start the Word Swap: Daisies from Stitching with the Housewives right after I finished the Monthly Weigh-In for May.

I was tired of stitching white daisies, so I decided to go colorful.  I went to my stash and pulled some other colors to use on the daisies.  I decided on over dyed pink & orange, and shades of purple for the petals and decided to alternate these colors in the border at the top as well.

I love the way it turned out!

Monthly Weigh-In: May

It's May! Time to start the next Monthly Weigh-In from Stitching with the Housewives.

I used 28 ct. tea-dyed Monaco fabric and used the called for floss that comes in the Fat Quarter Shop kit.

I have to paint the small seasonal items from Paisleys and Polka Dots that go on the scale before I can FFO this one.

I had a lot of interruptions while stitching this.  It took about 10 days of sporadic stitching.
